Chana Dal With Spinach

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chana dal
  • 1 cup spinach boiled chopped
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1  tomato, chopped
  • 1/2  tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4  tsp crushed Red chili
  • ½ tbap coriander powder
  • 1 tsp ginger chopped
  • 1  tsp garlic chopped
  • 1 green chili chopped
  • for garnishing chopped coriander leaves and ginger julienne
  • salt as required 


Method

  1. Wash and soak Chana Dal for 1 hour in the water.

  2. Boil dal in about three cups of water, along with turmeric, salt, Cook till tender and well blended.

  3. heat oil in fry pan. add cumin seeds. When  they begin to splutter. then add the ginger and  garlic and saute for 10-12 seconds. add the chopped onion and fry till transparent light brown. 
     
  4. add the tomatoes chopped. And all spices  cook till tomatoes become softened and oil separates from the spices now add dal, spinach and Water simmer for 3 to 5 minutes.
     
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves, ginger julienne and green chili chopped.

  6. Serve dal with Chapati or Rice parantha.
